3Battery pack connection problem solution.  Feb 11, 2009
By Michele Geary
I purchased this battery pack as well. I had the same problems with the connection and power not being maintained when I would step on the Wii Fit. I did find a solution, however. If you use the extension feet that came with the Wii Fit, the power connection with the Energizer battery pack remains. It is a bad design, but this work around worked for me. I have not lost connection since, and the battery life in between charges is sound.

5Another great Energizer solution!  Jan 01, 2009
By Chris Ibarra
Again, I am impressed with Energizer's rechargeable products!

I should begin by saying that, as a household, the Wii Fit Balance Board gets about an hour to an 1.5 hours of use per day. We were begin to eat through the batteries which bothered us on both a financial and economical level. After having good experience with the Energizer Wii Controller products, we ordered the Wii Power & Play Battery Pack.

It's great!

To install the battery pack, you simply remove your existing battery cover and batteries, and insert the Energizer pack. It's simple and fail free. It allows for full days of play before having to be re-charged. When it's time for a charge, the battery pack even has an audible sound that lets you know you're running low on power.

The battery pack comes complete with a wall charging cable. This means there's no need to remove the battery pack to charge it. Simply plug the cable into a wall plug, and the other end into your Wii Balance Board battery pack. You can even continue to play Balance Board games while the batteries charge! The pack charges within an hour or so and repeats an aubible sound when completed, letting you know it's safe to disconnect from the wall.

I have had zero problems with communication issues between the Balance Board and the Wii. Since installing the Energizer pack two weeks ago, the syatem runs as perfect as it did on tradtional non-rechargeable batteries.

When you purchase this item, you literally never again, will wait to play Balance Board games again! Save your battery money for more Wii games!

5Put a new charge in your workout  Jan 12, 2011

I bought the Energizer Power & Play Battery Back about 2 weeks ago. I'd read the reviews, positive and negative and I was hesitant. Still, I went for it. The design is a little bulky but nothing obnoxiously so. It comes with the battery pack and a USB charge cable that you can plug into the back of your Wii system. The battery back goes into the battery compartment of the Wii Balance Board and the cable plugs in to begin charging.

At first, I had the same problems that other people have described. It made the Wii Balance Board get inaccurate weight readings. To be fair, I tried it multiple ways. First I tried it on my hardwood floor, both with and without the foot extensions, then on the carpet, then with the sleeve and then with the sleeve and mat, all the while switching things up to see if the battery pack really wouldn't work. I even checked if pluging it into the Wii USB Finally, it seemed to hit on the right combination of being both on and off the yoga mat with the sleeve and having the foot extensions in (make sure the sleeve is put on AFTER the foot extensions or you'll get inaccurate readings)

In the end, it's been two weeks and the battery pack works just fine. I've never lost my connection between the board and Wii system (unless I stop using it a while and it turns off) and it records my weight within 3 lbs.

Overall, if the time is taken to make it work, it works great. I use the Wii Balance Board everyday and I am so glad I purchased the rechargeable pack. I am able to use it both free and while it is charging.

I definately recommend this to anyone looking for an economical way of saving money on a great Wii accessory!

1Loses connection  Sep 30, 2010

I think it's a bad design problem, because the battery pack is essentially flush with the floor, on the same level as the WII Fit balance board legs. As soon as you stand or move on the WII Fit balance board, the battery pack pushes in, and connection is lost. It will work great, if you don't ever stand on the balance board, but that really isn't much use, right? You shouldn't have to alter your balance board to work with a battery pack. I'd bet 1/4 of an inch would have made all the difference.

1Provides inaccurate weight information  Jan 01, 2010
By squeezil1
After installing this battery pack into the Balance Board, Wii Fit Plus gave a totally inaccurate weight reading. It gave a reading that was nearly 30 pounds less than my actual weight (it said I weighed 122 lbs., though I weigh 150 lbs.). Even though that was flattering, it was totally wrong. I then turned off the Balance Board and re-started Wii Fit Plus. The Balance Board again gave the same results. I tried this about three times. Finally, I inserted Sanyo rechargeable AA batteries into the Balance Board and received an accurate reading of 151 lbs. I use rechargeable Energizer equipment for the controllers for the Wii remotes, Xbox 360 controllers and to recharge PS3 controllers. Those Energizer products all work great. However, the Energizer Wii Balance Board Battery Pack does not allow the Board to provide an accurate weight reading. I suspect it has to do with the way the pack's contacts touch the Board. In any case, this battery pack is being returned. I will use normal rechargeable AA batteries for the Balance Board from now on.
