a great DVD! Mar 16, 2006
By Teapot Tales Really nice disks. Burn at up to 12x with no problems. Just plain well-made. There was no cases of layers ungluing, no loss of readablility. No coasters al all, by the way! And it is a record, considering the fact that I used several hundreds of them already. The recording layer is that metal-azo (This invention provides azo-metal complex dyes for a high-density optical disc recording medium that produces recordings with greater power margin and better sensitivity). (by Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM)) This media are manufactured utilizing Ultra-Precise Molding (UPM) technology which produces very flat discs, guaranteeing stable, high-speed rotation during the reading and writing processes.
So this is what you get for you money. Enjoy!

The Very Best .. Period Oct 15, 2010

These are the very best DVD-Rs money can buy -- and they don't cost that much more than other brands.
I've used many other brands: TDK, Sony, Memorex, Maxell, etc .. etc. The Verbatims made in Taiwan (these) are the best. The Verbatims from China are not good -- tried it, hated it.
Pros: 1. Archival-quality. 2. Good burns -- no coasters. 3. Excellent quality-control
Cons: 1. Priced 50% higher than Office Depot Sunday special DVDs. 2. Shipping a hit/miss -- Amazon needs to work on it. Verbatims ship these to stores in a box of 4. If you're lucky and order these in multiples of 4, then Amazon may ship them double-boxed. However, if you aren't lucky, then Amazon will ship them in a box with packing material -- letting them get banged around.

Could these be fake? Dec 25, 2010

These Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB disks are labeled and advertised as 16X, but DVD Identifier (ver. 5.20) identifies these as only 2X write speed disks! My various DVD burners (Pioneer, Matsushita and Plextor DL burners) will only burn these at 2X using Nero Burning ROM 6.6.0.18, which also detects these to be 2X disks. I have been using Verbatim DataLifePlus disks exclusively for several years and these are the ONLY disks of that ilk that seem to have write speeds lower than stated on the label. These disks, purchased through Amazon, might be fakes, or possibly just mispackaged or mislabeled, but they are definitely 2X disks! BEWARE!!!

Coaster resistant! Apr 25, 2010
By J.H.S. I only use high-quality Verbatim media like Datalife Plus. As a result, burning coasters is almost non-existent. Even when I do occasionally ruin a disk during burning, it's usually the fault of the PC or the drive. I get consistent burn rates and I'm very happy with Verbatim disks. I will not use any other brand.
Verbatim Can not be Beat!!! May 11, 2012
By Phil Picked these up on a "Lightning Deal"! Verbatim Discs are ALL I USE!!! They keep me from making coasters all day long. Don't buy anything else.
