Average for DL DVD media Oct 05, 2007
By Doug
"dougery"
These disks were hit and miss for me. I went through about 3 spindles of this brand of DL DVD, had about 5% of them end up as coasters (Had some layer break problems, and data problems. Firmware was up to date). I love Sony's 4.7 gb DVD's, but their DL's are manufactured by CMC and have a higher error rate than Verb. I would recommend paying a little bit extra for Verbatim.

Works for me Nov 16, 2009
By Anthony DeFur Bottom line is they have a 5 percent fail rate. I keep buying them because every thing else I have tried has been a lot worse. I have a mid level burner made by Hitatchi- LG, I think it says HL. I have made about 40 backups and 2 failed.

Cheap for a Reason Jan 22, 2009
By Amanda Koch I went with these particular DVDs because they were the most cost effective. However, in addition to low cost they are poor quality. I've used 12 discs so far and half of them were unusable. Next time I'll pay the extra few bucks for a better brand.

Pretty Reliable Feb 17, 2011
By C. Ho I have a Dell Laptop (XPS M1330) with a built-in DVD burner and use Imgburn as the software. I used to have no problem with Memorex's DVD DL until recently, when almost all the discs I bought were un-burnable. Then due to the good reviews, I switched over to Verbatim, which usually burns fine, but whenever I playback the DVD's, I'll almost always have problems at the transition point between the first and second layer, or at some points in the middle of the second layer. So then I give Sony a try, and so far with a decent success rate (All successfully burned DVD's also played fine). I did have some discs that couldn't be burned, so the reliability is not 100%. But in my case, I had better experience with Sony than Verbatim or Memorex.

sony seems to be the most reliable brand for blanks Oct 11, 2009
By Jared Ning when i started burning a bunch of dvds a few months ago, i noticed how unreliable they were. i would pop in a blank disc, attempt to burn, and then halfway through the verification process, it would die and spit it out, and i would have a new coaster. i don't know if it's a mac thing or a brand thing. i did some googling and found a page that listed a whole bunch of brands and how reliable they were (sorry, can't find the page again). sony was one of them. so i bought a spindle of sonys, and they seemed to work at least the majority of the time. when it came time to buy dual layer dvds, i didn't bother going for any other brand. the price was reasonable too. and so far, i've seemingly had the same success rate, which means i've had some successfully burned dvds but also a coaster or two.
