Outstanding value, especially for draft output Nov 24, 2009
By Norman A. Garrett I don't use this printer for presentation quality output, so I wasn't too concerned about matching the quality with the OEM cartridge. I use it for drafts, printing receipts, etc.. That said, I did compare some of my output from the original cartridge with this and the difference is so negligible as to be a non-issue for my use. Since the price was only 1/3 of the OEM cartridge, I think it's a bargain. As others have said, if I were using the output for presentations where I needed the sharpest output possible, I might take a closer look. For me, and my particular usage, it's 5 stars.
Update: After about 5 months of use, I've run into a couple of problems: First, the toner light came on again after about a month, even though the cartridge was new and had only printed less than 100 sheets of text. Second, after about 3-4 months with the toner light on (and less than 500 copies printed), the toner light went from blinking to solid and the status light went red, indicating that toner was completely gone. Apparently, the HL-5250DN uses a gear to gauge toner usage and the mechanical stop had been hit on this cartridge, fooling the printer into thinking it was out of toner. After messing around with several "fixes" found on the Internet, my printer won't work at all now. I am going to get a real Brother cartridge and will see if that fixes the problem. I'll post the result here in a subsequent update.

Good Value Jan 06, 2009
By Mr. Clean Quality is not as good as the OEM version, but at this price it's well worth it. I've been using it about a week now and so far no complaints. If you're looking for something to print presentation quality, then look elsewhere, otherwise this is a great value.
Update: I've been using this toner for over a month now and still working great. No complaints.

Be sure and order from a good seller. Mar 26, 2009
By Joseph M. Martinez WARNING: Do not order this item from "Abacus24-7". I ordered this product from Abacus24-7. When I received it, although the box said "580" on it, what I received was a replica of a TN-560, rather than TN-580. According to Brother, a TN-560 would damage my model of printer. Abacus said they would refund the product and shipping. Once I returned it, they refunded the product price only, not shipping, insisting that it was compatible with my printer, even though Brother said it would damage it. I re-ordered this product from "The Factory Depot", and got the correct ones.

Don't order from "Abacus24-7" Oct 29, 2009
By Ann E. Sherman I had the same problem that another reviewer had - I ordered from "Abacus24-7", and they didn't send the right cartridge. Unfortunately, I trusted them and set the cartridge aside until it was needed, and now it's too late to return it. Amazon won't even allow me to leave seller feedback, which makes no sense.
This might work from another supplier, but don't order from "Abacus24-7".

JUNK REPLACEMENT TONER. DON'T BUY! May 26, 2010
By Daniel
"Daniel"
We bought this replacement toner cartridge from Amazon.com. We rated it for one star since the website doesn't allow us to give it zero star. The paper printed from this junk replacement toner is full of little black lines and dots. The toner powder is all over the paper and inside our printer. It's a mess!!
