3DON'T BUY BEFORE YOU TRY THIS!!!  Jan 20, 2011
By Hairball
It just may be that your original power supply is NOT dead!

First, UNPLUG your "dead" power supply (from the wall outlet) and LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED for AT LEAST 30 minutes. Plug it back in - voila! Problem solved.

A friend told me about this trick after talking to Nintendo tech support, and sure enough - IT WORKED!

Unfortunately, I had already purchased this item by the time I learned of this. Oh, well, live and learn!

Now I have a backup just in case the original does die on me, but I do not have much confidence in the quality of this one. Definitely seems more cheaply made than the original. The markings on the bottom appear to be the same as the original, but not exactly. Also, this unit is lighter than the original.

2Beware - May not be orginal Nintendo Power Supply  Mar 14, 2009
By Mark Sherman
I purchased this product from Vangoddy. They advertise both this product and another Wii replacement power supply that is clearly marked as a 3rd party replacement (for about $3 less). In reading the reviews, I noticed that there were complaints that the 3rd party replacements did not perform as well, so I paid the extra $3 thinking I was getting a genuine Nintendo part. The box I received clearly stated "This product is not licensed, designed, sponsored, endorsed or manufactured by Nintendo." I complained to Vangoddy, and they refunded me the difference between their two products. I do not know if they shipped me the wrong product or whether the genuine Nintendo product is not really a genuine Nintendo product. So far, in two days of use, no problems. But time will tell. If you really want the genuine product replacement, you may want to check with the vendor to verify that they really are providing a Nintendo part.

I just started using this AC power adapter, there seems to be something wrong with the product
It does power the. wii, however when AC power adapter is plugged into the wall outle(even without the wii on) it causes serious distotion on the tv and other devices plugged into the wall outlets
do not but this product!

1Bad shielding on power supply - Call Nintendo instead  Dec 03, 2010
By vt
This power supply is not well-shielded. We get a diagonal (///////) radio frequency interference pattern running across the TV screen.

I figured there would be a long, involved process to get a replacement power supply from Nintendo for our six month old Wii, so I ordered this knock-off power supply until I had time to dig up the proof of purchase and other documentation I expected to have to provide to Nintendo.

The good news is that failed power supply/AC adapters must be a known issue with the Wii, because the Nintendo representative I talked to took my word for the unit being less than one year old, didn't require proof of purchase, and promptly shipped a properly-shielded (no interference pattern), Nintendo-branded power supply free of charge.

Save your money, drop a dime to Nintendo instead.

5Excellent  Apr 09, 2009
By Kimberly D. Smith
I had a power surge at my house and my Wii was plugged in. I thought I would have to purchase a new game system. But was pleasantly surprised that all I needed was a power cord. Thanks for everything!
