I wanted to use my Logitec Universal to control both my DVD player and my Blu-ray player. A 'Splitter' simply will not work. I'm not a teckie but I ordered the HDMI 3 x 1 Switcher w/remote control (this is great, because it means I can train my Logitec to choose which unit to watch). My only regret, is that I bought the 3 port instead of a 4 port, as I now have purchased a ROKU to stream live videos to HDTV and need another port. My hat is off to the inventor of this sweet little device. Oh, I'm on this site right now, looking for a 4-port:)
