The other 1 star reviewers are trying to get this Adapter to do something it is incapable of doing. You can't take an analog signal from a VGA port on your computer and convert it to a digital signal needed by a DVI-D monitor. That type of analog to digital converter typically costs a lot more than $3. DVI is a confusing 'standard' as it has analog, digital, and mixed (DVI-I) versions.

If you have a Dell laptop you are trying to connect to a DVI-D monitor, I recommend trying to find a Port Replicator that is compatible with your laptop because many of them have DVI-D ports. I found one on amazon for <$30 and while I can only get 1280x800 resolution on my new 31" digital monitor, at least it works.

This company provided excellent customer service. I wasn't able to use their part, because it won't work with my laptop. If your laptop has a recessed VGA connector, don't buy one of these adapters. This part was made for a desktop VGA connector. The service that I received from this company was great, but I just couldn't use this part.

My computer has a DVI output. I was trying to connect it to an older VGA monitor. Tested on TWO monitors and both FAILED. Product does NOT WORK!!!!

I order this adapter and a cable to use on my computer to play DVD on my TV at home and also at the camper at the campground. PS If you charge me Sale Tax on parts order and I will not order Parts form Amazon. Thank you

The plug appears to fit to convert a VGA to a DVI signal. It plugs into the display, it plugs into the video cards. But apparently it is always blank. I know I took a chance when buying this. Nor do I want to return a little item. So something to consider that the product description doesn't match up with what it's supposed to do. Come to think of it, if it cannot convert a VGA to DVI signal what good is it?
