5Excellant & Low Price  Aug 28, 2011
By SJR
I have gone through several hundred different blank DVD +/- R and RW. I spent big dollars for the "best" name brand, and found super cheap ones with no name. Here's the bottom line deal on that story. For non-rewritables, these are by far the best and cheapest I've found. Out of my 100 pack, only one was defective. I have already ordered another 200.

5Great Discs at a Great Price  Oct 16, 2011
By Leland L. Bahr "Lee"
First off, I use a lot of DVD-R 16x over sampling discs as a home consumer. I use around 6 per day, so that means I use a lot of them per month. I have used many different recorders and recording methods when burning a DVD. I have found the machine used is 99% of the success or failure of your recording attempt. I set my machines to record for 2 and sometimes 4 hours).

I find these Phillips discs to work just great. I have used close to 400 of them right now and have yet to find a bad one. However, I have also found hardly a bad one with any other name brand disc I have used in the past with a good machine. I once had a machine which would only accept one out of four discs, a Lite-On machine). I get these Phillips discs through Amazon with FREE SHIPPING at a great price. I cannot say anything but good about these discs. I read on here some guy said these discs are thinner of more flimsy then another brand. That is BS and just plain crazy. They are all the same from brand to brand or for at least all the ones I have tried such as Sony, Verbatim, Kodak, Maxell, Memorex, Panosonic, Phillips, or TDK. I have never seen one brand a different thickness or made of different material from one brand to another. I think some people just have a bad recorder or they have some dark reason to suggest these are no good or someone else's are better.

The bottom line is, I have used 400 of these Phillips discs now without one bad disc in the bunch. They do a great job of recording at a great price and the Free Shipping makes them even a better deal. You will not be dissappointed buying these discs. I use Samsung, and Toshiba recorders plus a computer to burn discs).

One last note. Recording machines need maintenance. The laser lens needs to be cleaned from time to time with a laser disc cleaner. Any dust on the lens will cause problems. When and if this occurs, and it will occur, you have a machine broblem and not a disc problem. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people with recording problems give the disc manufacturer a bad rap when in actuality it is a machine problem. I think this is the reason why you find raving reviews from one user and then comes along a guy having all kinds of problems with a certain brand of discs. If you look at feedback from all the disc manufacturers you will find a few complaining on how bad those discs are yet everyone else loves them. Most likely the bad feedback should be placed upon their machine and not the disc.

Just to let everyone know, I am not in any recording business or connected with any manufacturer of recording machines or DVD discs. I am really into electronics, am a licensed broadcast engineer and a ham radio operator for 58 years with an Extra Class License.

5No problems at all  Jul 25, 2011
By M. Schryver "mikescr"
I've only used about ten of the discs so far, but it's smooth sailing. They've all worked so far. One nice thing about these DVDs is that my burners can write to them at a bigger variety of speeds than some other discs I've used.

1very flimsey  Sep 28, 2011
By dooker "erf"
these suck, they seem very thin & flimsey compared to TDK, also get more failures with these, FYI, try slower burmning speeds for better results, TDK & Verbatim have been the best so far and I have used 1000+
