As expected, *BUT* do you really need it now? Mar 31, 2011
By MedIT This seems to be a totally fine cartridge; however, I suspect a lot of people have purchased it (as I did) in a panic when their printer decided to go from working perfectly to refusing to print. You can fix your problem tonight, print that important document and drop this in the closet for a few months from now...
Brother has decided to start including an optical toner level checker in their printers. It is much too sensitive (incompetence or geed, you decide). The printer "looks" through the cartridge waiting for the toner to drop under the level of eyes it looks through at which point it refuses to print despite being able to do hundreds more perfect pages. By blacking out one of the eyes you fool it into being always full. You'll just have to recognize the drop in print quality that's significant enough to make you change cartridges.
If you want to force your printer to print:
- Turn your printer off - Open the front - Pull the cartridge / drum out - Eject the cartridge from the drum (tab on the side) - Look on the edge of the cartridge without drive gears and find the clear plastic grommet eye thing - Confirm you've got the right one by finding a match for it on the drive side - Go back to the non-drive side (b/c it is easier to get to) and black it out (marker / electric tape) - Put everything back together - Turn on printer - Print, FTW.

buyer beware Dec 30, 2010
By dingo If it were possible to give this seller a zero star rating, I would do this without hesitation. The cartridge arrived without problem but lasted less than 3 weeks and made less than 250 copies. The copier messaged that there was no toner remaining in the cartridge. When I contacted the seller regarding this, they responded that the cartridge was refilled with the correct amount of toner and my problem was most likely the drum and that I should shake the cartridge. When I responded to this message that I had shaken the cartridge with no success and that I purchased another cartridge which has performed without a problem with the existing drum, no response from the seller was or has been received. Since then I have also refilled their cartridge with toner purchased from ebay and this has performed without a problem with the same drum. Buyer beware. I would recommend that you do not do business with this vendor and refill your own cartridges. Easy to do, much cheaper and without the hassle of dealing with a seller. Please note that I have been very happy with my experiences with Amazon till this transaction.

Perfect Replacement for Brother Mar 09, 2010
By T. Anderson
"ELECTRONIC GEEK"
I bought the drum and toner combo unit because of the remarkably low price. Well, I changed the drum in my MFC 8860DN and she is performing beautifully. I reset the drum setting back to 100%... so MFC thinks is has a new Brother drum... Image is equal or better than the factory drum it replaced. Saved a bundle!

Be Prepared for the Gamble You Are Making Jan 20, 2012
By WatchUFly It sounds as though there are satisfied customers that have left reviews, and if this is the case then good for them. Unfortunately this was not my experience. The cartridge came in a plastic bubble mailer inside of a larger box (With the rest of my order), and it appeared satisfactory. When I pulled open the clear bubble mailer, toner powder exploded everywhere. No amount of wiping seemed to stem the tide of blackness, and I finally gave it up as a loss. I've seen other reviews that mentioned poor construction, and that must have been it, because I looked everywhere for the leak and never found it. I also wanted to note that 1) even though I ordered a TN-580, the cartridge was labeled TN-620; and 2) there was a cracked portion on the external of the device in an area that was supposed to connect to the drum, and the missing small piece of plastic was not even in the bag. Seems like they weren't even concerned enough to check for broken pieces before they shipped.
All in all, since there seem to be other happy reviews, just be aware that this purchase is a gamble that may not work out for you.

Be weary of warrantee Mar 17, 2011
By Howard Dinner My Brother laser toner cartridge failed with full toner ink, but I had it more than 90 days and Viamart wouldn't exchange it. Other venders have a 1 year guarantee/ exchange policy. Next time, I'll buy from them!
