Multi-Region and FANTASTIC for the price Jun 22, 2010 I have purchased three of these as I have three children. The three were purchased over the past three years, we leave in New York and Sydney so we travel quite a bit and these have been fantastic for my 5yr, 3yr and now recently for my 2yr old. My main reason for purchasing this was because it's cheap and more important it can become a multi-region DVD player very easily. We have DVD's that are region 4 and region 1, there's nothing worse than being on a long haul flight and having my 3yr wanting to watch a DVD and not being able to. This DVD has been dropped a NUMBER of times by my 4yr old getting on and off planes and it has held up with no problems. When we stay in hotels etc. we just connect it up to the TV and instantly have all movies on hand. We have used them in our cars for long drives with the lighter adapter. For battery life it has worked well and we have only got caught out once when the battery died. Using the player as is and not fiddling with backlight etc. My kids are able to watch about 2.5 movies on one charge.
My most recent model needed some modification to make it multi-region than previously so the software may have changed a bit. IT's basically the same but with one minor modification.
Using the previous posts.
Turn the Unit on
Open the DVD tray - do not put a DVD in
Using the remote press SETUP
Press the following >> (Foward), << (rewind), >>| (next) , |<< (previuos)
The current region code of 1 will appear in the top right hand corner
Press the LARGE RIGHT ARROW to change the region code to 255
Press SETUP
This has now set my unit to play any region DVD. Enjoy.
unreliable piece of junk Jun 14, 2010 We ordered two of these and ended up having problems getting them to charge. Unfortunately we only discovered the problem 1 hour into a 5 hr flight. One of the units had been purchased recently enough to return it in exchange for another. Unfortunately the replacement had the same charging problem. The unit works fine if it's plugged in while you're operating it. But if you want your portable DVD player to be portable . . . don't buy this piece of junk.
Don't buy this player, period. Feb 22, 2010 long story short, it failed playing dvds/cds...save your money and buy other brand. ACTUAL WARRANTY is just 90 days, not 1 year.
Good deal for the money invested Nov 12, 2009 I find this item worth the cost it has. Since the screen is small the visual is not very impressive. the sound quality and the volume is good in headphones but speakers are not enough audible (I hear other wise OK :)).
The item otherwise is handy, it was delivered in good packing, it has a remote which is handy too. the required headphone car charge etc are included in the box
the delivery was quicker and safe, and I found the items in the brand new shape. it was ready to use.
I am satisfied with the qualitly of the product and its good in range of its cost.. Go ahead with it.
Poor Player Oct 28, 2009 The reviews below are exactly the same problems I experienced with my player: the sound quality goes out completely, so unless you plug in earphones or speaker there is no sound, it skips on disc play (even with new discs), freezes, or says "Wrong Disc." Usually it makes such a loud whirring noise I worry that the motor will bust! I'm surprised it still plays at all. Don't bother with this model.
