DON'T BUY THIS! Sep 19, 2008
By Bruce Benjamin Don't buy this! The mfr. claims that it is compatible with the Brother HL2040 printer, but it's NOT! Doesn't in any way, shape, or form even LOOK like the cartridge which came with the printer! And this cartridge has not worked since Day 1. Avoid it like the plague!
I wrote them an e-mail and got no response.

Crappy smudgy and bad Jun 09, 2009

Yes, true OEM toner cartridges are really expensive. And its natural that we should find cheaper alternatives -- but not this one. This costs half as much as the authentic but it's worthless. Every page has blurs and blots. Every single page. Sometimes multiple ones.
Unless you plan on subliminal Rorhschach tests for each of your documents I'm afraid you'll have to bite the bullet and get the real McCoy. Yes, the world is unfair. There it is.
(Regarding fitting and the other review. These cheap guys expect you to pull one of the parts off the orignal Brother toner you are discarding and snap it on to this unit. The original Brother cartridge you just pop in -- this one requires you to do some salvaging and assembly. And there are no manuals or instructions or pictures. If you start by taking out your cartridge and tossing it away before opening this box you are soooo screwed.)

Generic Toner Nov 08, 2010
By william patrick This is not a Brother's Toner unit. A generic. It ran out of ink very quickly and we were defrauded.

Works perfectly in my Brother 2070N Jul 13, 2011
By S. King I decided to suck it up and buy the cheap cartridge just to try it. I'm glad I did. It fits perfect in the cartridge holder and I have not had a single issue with print quality as some others seem to have. No blotches, dots or streaks. I've only had it in a month so I can't comment on how long the cartridge lasts. But I will definitely be purchasing this again as opposed to the OEM cartridge that costs practically as much as a new printer.
What I am wondering, is whether or not people are cleaning the corona wire per Brother's instruction each time you change the cartridge. All you do is slide the blue "tab" on the drum unit (the unit the cartridge clicks into) back and forth a few times.

the crtridge worls as expected with good value Apr 05, 2011
By JJ The cartridge worked as expected except a few small black dot on the paper here there once a while. It is easy to install and print fine. It is a good value cartridge to buy.
