Not for printing shipping labels with postage barcodes Oct 20, 2008

A great printer overall, but useless for printing shipping labels. Brother does not support printing postage barcodes on labels with this printer, and existing postage printing software does not support this Brother printer. I have confirmed this in emails to Brother support and to [...] support.

That seems like a pretty amazing feature to miss for such an otherwise great printer. Brother even sells 4x6 inch industry standard package labels (for shipping by parcel post, UPS, etc), but the printer doesn't print barcodes! Bizarre.

I print a lot of labels for organization and simple mailing. Works very good, easy to change out the paper to something else, software if very easy to use with a lot of features.

Please note that you DO NEED to purchase the Brother cartidges, they are product specific and as such a little pricy. I knew this when I purchased it, look at the photos, do you research before purchasing or you will not be happy.

This printer is a rip-off. While the printer itself is fine, Brother doesn't tell you that you have to buy their label supplies only from them at a very high price.
For an example, a 4" x 6" roll of 200 labels with shipping is close to $50.00.
You cannot buy the labels anywhere else as they fit into a plastic holder that you must insert into the printer to get it to work. I think .25 per label is way to costly considering any other printer would cost you 3-4 cents per label. Save your money and buy from another company.
