I needed a new drum unit for my Brother printer and found this one. The OEM price was almost the cost of the printer so I looked for a non-oem unit for a lot less. This unit was at a low price. It was shipped in a generic box but I was half expecting this. I installed the unit and printed a number of pages to verify the operation. I wish it came with instructions on resetting the printer counter but hey, I found them on the web (look for the instruction that call for having the toner door open, this one works). I won't know if the life span of the drum for a long time but so far I got everything I was promised.
The only reason for only 4 out of 5 stars is because the lifespan for any drum replacement is yet to be determined, otherwise 5 starts.
I would recommend them.

The unit snapped right into place without trouble and ran a test page jsut fine. But a day later it started "thunking" when printing and the lines of text were inconsistent. One line would be vertically compressed and the next would be expanded. I tried reinserting it several times with no difference in function. Bought a new printer instead.

The item came quickly. when I installed the new drum unit it fit perfectly.
When I tried to print the paper would jam every time.
I finally cleaned the old one and put it back and it has been working since then.
Sorry, but this was not a suitable replacement for the Brother HL-2040.

My Brother laser printer was making all kinds of smears and black dots over every sheet of paper. I ordered this drum and replaced it and on the first sheet all problems cleared up! Great product.

Replacement drum was inexpensive and has worked perfectly in the printer. We have had extensive use on this drum, and the copies come out crisp and clear. No issues at all, and as usual, great service from Amazon!
