2Why the ranting and raving?  Jan 02, 2007
By Treavor Wernisch "no-tec"
People have been ranting and raving about this Zune case so I decided to pick one up. I guess when you compare it to the only the 3 or so that are available at this time, sure, it's the best one.

It's obvious this piece didn't go through any internal testing and Belkin simply received the specs from Microsoft, and built it based on the dimensions they were given. Granted the case does protect your Zune but that's about the only upside this product can offer.

Simply changing songs requires you to unsnap LOUD metal buttons, and unfold it to get access to the Zune's buttons. The pause/play and menu "buttons" [the smaller left and right ones] are terrible. To start, they are off-center to the buttons they are supposed to be protecting, so pushing down to the menu button becomes an epic battle to get it to even depress, and the pause play button is permanently pressed so any bump whatsoever will execute it. The center "hole" of the case is also off center to the Zune's, and since the Zune is sensitive to pressing a direction on the circle and pressing the center of the circle, more often then not you will be pressing both at once.

The "kick stand" is the most hilarious part. It's obvious that while it was being manufactured an assembly worker just had the idea hit him while he was folding up the case. There is no "stand" mechanism whatsoever. The stand is really just not folding the case entirely and having it rest on itself. Just look at the picture!

Anyway, the included sleeve you get with the Zune is way better then anything that is out right now. I only recommend this if you are very rough with your Zune and need to extra protection. I mean this case seems to double the size of the Zune. Its seriously huge.

I suggest waiting 6 months for a few more cases to come out. Don't get me wrong, I love Belkin, but this case was just terrible, and obviously not well thought out.

3an okay case  Jan 11, 2007
By Z. Deneen "dispatch"
Being my first product from belkin i was somewhat dissapointed. I agree with the other reviewer but not to some extents. The left and right buttons push easy but it doesn't seem like you are pushing it, however, closing the case without the hold button on will trigger the play/pause button. The snaps are not Very loud but they do make some noise and it is silly and pointless to have to open it each time, what I do now is when i use this case (along with my other 3) I put it on a playlist so I don't have to open it.

The D-pad (center) is also off center but still functional, just not a good design. The 'kickstand' part was apparent that it was the case that functions as a stand and it works well. What the pictures on here dont show, is that underneath the zune on the case part is a 3rd snap, so when you are holding it like the picture on here, the zune wouldn't fall out, this is useful because you can switch to unsnap that to go into the kickstand mode (which works well by the way). It looks like a mini tv, very nice, doesn't slide, stays where you put it. The black outside looks and feels verynice, and then inside fuzzyness is also nice, except that when sliding your zune it, it seems some of the fibers come off and are now on the screen. So as it stands I need to clean the inside of the case. (note that there is a built in screen protector on it. The way the case is held togethr allows Very easy access to the sync port, and hold button, the headphone jack is slightly off but still functions. The case also adds a lot of bulk because of all the folds. All in all it is a very asthetically pleasing case but needs some reworking of the functionality.

4Very good for video watchers.  Jan 11, 2008
By V. Kanar "Daka's mom."
The Belkin Folio is almost perfect for me since it is designed with video folks in mind. I mostly watch videos on my Zune so landscape viewing and keeping the screen free of scratches is vital. When I'm watching a video I put the Zune on its side and adjust the tilt for glare reduction. When I'm not watching a video I turn off and lock the Zune, fold up the case, wrap my ear bud wires around it, and toss it all into my jacket pocket. The Folio displays the Zune in a landscape position and allows for full glare adjustment. The Folio protects the screen from scratches as well as from getting "point crushed" by the ear buds or anything else in my pocket like my keys.

On the other hand, the Folio's velvet lining does shed a bit of fuzz that works its way between the Zune and Folio screens where it's hard to clean. Tonight I'm going to remove the Folio's clear screen which I think is not needed. Without it, the case will still be a great pocket protector while the film I put on the Zune will still protect the screen from easier, more frequent, fuzz and fingerprint cleanings.

I like the folding case style and am glad to not worry about breaking some plastic hinged kick stand.

All the buttons work easily and line with the case just fine. I don't poke the buttons with my forefinger though. I put my fingers behind the Zune with my thumb on whatever button and squeeze. I do that without a case too due to the size of the Zune buttons. It's easy.

All the charging and earplug ports are readily accessible. You can close the case up and charge.

This case is clearly designed for video and not music since there is no secure way to stand the Zune upright and when it's folded up there's no way to get to the buttons. So, music folks will cry. On the other hand, they have a zillion cases to choose from while us Zune video watchers have slim pickins. Very few cases have a landscape kickstand and absolutely no docking stations have a landscape mode.

Some folks will say this case makes the Zune way too large... but for my money it's far, far smaller than hauling around a portable DVD player. I don't think there's a portable DVD player out there that you can easily fit onto a jacket pocket.

Something I'd love to see with all the cases is a way to wrap up your ear bud wires and attach the case or holder or whatever to bigger case. I want to set down my Zune, pop open the case for viewing and then unwind only as much ear bud wire as I need. And when done, I want to quick wind up my wire, tuck away the ear buds, fold the case, and toss it all into my pocket.

Anyways, for video folks, the Belkin Folio is almost perfect. I love mine. I even love the classy brown leather look of it.

1First disappointment for Belkin product...  Feb 24, 2007
By WebWiseWomen
The other 2 reviews pretty much sum up the problems. My addition is I have always purchased Belkin cases for all my personal/portable electronics and this is my first disappointment.

Whether that is Belkin's or Microsoft's responsibility, I'm not sure.

For Zune owners who want a case that can move from office to club to home without the necessity of removing to charge or connect, this case is not it.

BELKIN DEVOTEES, PLEASE NOTE: while not included in description, dedicated Belkin customers might expect the excellent belt clip Belkin is famous for. This case has NO belt clip.

Enjoy the Community, fellow Zune owners!

My order came quickly and was in perfect condition. I have purchased several electronic devices and accessories from Amazon, and they have always exceeded my expectations.
