Okay, not sure if that Printerpro review is a joke... but anyway...
I have an HP photosmart c5280 printer and three professors that are apparently in cahoots to destroy the rainforest. I've had to print a ton of lecture notes for each class and XL cartridges are the way to go.
This deal is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD for two cartridges, XL or not. And while I initially had trouble with my printer pitching a fit about them not being brand new, I just restarted the printer and pressed some buttons and got it working.
Great buy, will get again in a couple weeks when my prof's demands have run me dry again x.x

Bottom line ... these provide good print quality on plain paper for a great price, but there are trade-offs. You judge whether the lower price is worth the additional hassle.
I bought these for an HP OfficeJet J6480 printer. The black ink cartridge (HP 74XL) was defective on arrival (the printer display said "Cartridge error" and the printer refused to do anything). Another reviewer reported the same problem ([...]). Reinstalling the cartridge did not help, nor did cleaning the electrical contacts. The retailer promptly sent a replacement cartridge under warranty and it works correctly. I'd use the retailer, 77Ink, again. The product rating was reduced two stars due to the defective cartridge.
Contrary to the description, these cartridges do NOT report ink levels. This is common for re-manufactured cartridges so the product rating was not reduced for this.
The ink works well on plain paper and the colors are accurate. I've not tried it on photo paper.

Prints, but does not register the ink levels on the printer or my computer May 25, 2010

I bought these refurbished ink cartridges for my HP Photosmart C4400 printer. When I configured them after installation, they worked fine. The next time I turned the printer on, the little screen on the printer had a warning about incompatible print cartridges. My computer (Mac mini, running OS X 10.4.11) registers the cartridges as empty. So basically, these print - but if my printer has a warning, then I need to turn it off and on, and then it will print. But I don't print a lot, so they work for me. Also, the price is right! I was really hoping that these refurbished print cartridges would show the levels on my computer so that I would know what they were running low. Oh well! Also, I like that they are the XL cartridges. I had no problems with ordering from this company, Sophia Global.

Do not buy these or any refurbished cartridges, they work for a while and then stop. It's a better deal to look for a sale or search for a low price on original manufactured cartridges. I've tried the refill kits also, of course, they don't work.
These cartridges were reinked in CHINA, NO STANDARDS! I lost money on trying to get around buying original manufactured cartridges, all I got was junk.

Color ink cartrdge 75 XL worked fine. Black ink cartridge would not work and I kept getting error messages from our HP J6480 printer. I used the "clean " feature three times and cartridge still wasn't working. We have two HP J6480 printers and I tried the refurbished 74 XL in the other printer. I first got an error message and tried reinstalling the cardridge. The last reinstallation seemed to finally do the trick. Both are now working - but I'm not sure I could have ever gotten the 74 XL refurb to work on pringer #1. With these used and refurbished cartridges the printer won't give you an ink level, so make sure to have an extra handy. I ordered two more refurbished cartridges and will use them next time the ink runs out. If it weren't for the fact that I have two HP J6480 printers - so can mix and match cartridges - I'd probably be buying new genuine HP cartridges instead of messing with refurbished ones.
